The Nike Air More Uptempo “Thank You, Wilson” is a special colorway of the classic basketball shoe that features details inspired by Wilson Smith, the first Black footwear designer. Smith, who designed the Air More Uptempo back in 1996, is regarded as one of the greatest sneaker minds in history, as he is credited with creating a long list of popular Nike shoes. On the “Thank You, Wilson,” the shoe features design elements inspired by Smith’s love of space age TV. A gradient, sunset-inspired arrangement of colors appears on either side of the shoe underneath a mesh construction. Graffiti-inspired “AIR” branding with a reflective finish is found on the sides. A white Swoosh is embroidered on the toe and a Jeweled Swoosh is located on the heel. Unique branding inspired by Smith is found on the tongue and on the insole. Release date: October 21, 2022
